This is in effect a multiple choice question, which is never a good idea in the Quiz League format. The way it was asked, there are only four possible answers, of which two are correct; therefore, if the first team got it wrong, the second team has two chances out of three of guessing correctly (assuming they didn't know the answer).
It might have been better to ask for one of the two Stans (apart from itself, obviously) that Afghanistan didn't have a border with. This is still a multiple choice question, but there are four wrong answers (Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) and only two right ones (Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan).
